Nutcracker Auditions – Open to the Public

Sawnee Ballet Theatre holds open auditions for its annual production of the Nutcracker every August at Sawnee School of Ballet for dancers in second grade and above. Open casting roles include party children, party adults, mice, soldiers, fairies, angels, dragonettes, lambs, and more!

Saturday, August 22, 2020
All dancers age second grade and above with at least one year of dance experience are welcome to audition. Boys no dance experience necessary. Acting experience a plus for all auditioning.

10:00am-11:00am: 1st-3rd grade girls
11:15am-12:00pm: Boys audition (ages 7-13) Dance experience not required
12:30pm-1:30pm: 4th-5th grade girls
2:00pm-3:00pm: 6th-12th grade girls and boys (with dance experience) age 14-18 yrs old

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to audition time to check in, receive audition number, be measured, and have audition photo taken.

Audition Dress Code:
*This is a ballet audition.  Please come in the correct attire, or dancers will not be permitted to participate.
Girls: solid colored leotard (if an SSB student, please wear assigned class color), pink tights & ballet shoes with hair pulled back in neat bun, NO jewelry (stud earrings permitted)
Boys: white t-shirt, black tights or shorts, white socks (optional), & ballet shoes

After submitting the form, the confirmation page will contain a link to Paypal to pay the $15 audition fee that must be paid at time of registration to complete registration and confirm an audition spot.  Registration the day of audition is $20 – space permitting.

Audition results will be available at the Sawnee School of Ballet front desk on Tuesday, September 1. Dancers cast in the production will have a costume fitting September 12 and will rehearse Friday evenings or Saturday mornings/early afternoons beginning October 2.

Company Auditions

Open auditions for SBT’s company are held every May at Sawnee School of Ballet. Acceptance is by audition and /or invitation based upon the dancers: technique, strength, body placement, and maturity.

$20 Audition Fee in advance, $30 at the door

Please arrive at least 30 minutes early to sign in, receive and pin on your audition numbers, and warm up. Ladies should wear a solid colored black leotard and pink tights with hair pulled back in neat bun.  Please bring both your ballet slippers and pointe shoes. NO jewelry. Light make up is encouraged.  Male dancers should wear a white form-fitting shirt, black tights, and ballet shoes.

 

 

Company 3 & Apprentice
Age 11 and up with a minimum of 3 years ballet training (1 year of pointe). The dancer should currently be taking 2 ballet classes per week before his/her audition.
Company 2
Age 12 and up with a minimum of 4 years ballet training (2 years of pointe). The dancer must currently be taking 3 ballet classes per week before his/her audition.
Company 1
Age 13 and up with a minimum of 5 years ballet training (4 years of pointe). The dancer must currently be taking 3-4 ballet classes per week before his/her audition.
