Open Nutcracker Auditions
Sawnee Ballet Theatre holds open auditions for its annual production of the Nutcracker every August at Sawnee School of Ballet for dancers in second grade and above. Open casting roles include party children, party adults, mice, soldiers, fairies, angels, dragonettes, lambs, and more!

All dancers age second grade and above with at least one year of dance experience are welcome to audition. Boys no dance experience necessary. Acting experience a plus for all auditioning.
10:00am-11:00am: 2nd-4th grade girls
11:00am-11:45am: Boys audition (ages 7-18)
11:00am-11:45am: Non-dancer acting audition (ages 13 through adult)
12:00pm-1:00pm: 5th-7th grade girls
1:00pm-2:00pm: 8th-12th grade girls
Pre-register at SawneeBalletTheatre.org beginning August 1.
Cast dancers rehearse Friday evenings or Saturday mornings/early afternoons starting early October.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to audition time to register.
Audition Dress Code:
Girls: solid colored leotard (if an SSB student, please wear assigned class color), pink tights & ballet shoes with hair pulled back in neat bun, NO jewelry
Boys: white t-shirt, black tights or shorts, white socks, & ballet shoes
Open auditions for SBT’s company are held every May at Sawnee School of Ballet. Acceptance is by audition and /or invitation based upon the dancers: technique, strength, body placement, and maturity.
A second audition is being held this July prior to the SBT Choreography Intensive July 22-26, 2019.

$30 Audition Fee
Please arrive at least 30 minutes early to sign in, receive and pin on your audition numbers, and warm up. Ladies should wear a solid colored black leotard and pink tights with hair pulled back in neat bun. Please bring both your ballet slippers and pointe shoes. NO jewelry. Light make up is encouraged. Male dancers should wear a white form-fitting shirt, black tights, and ballet shoes.
Age 11 and up with a minimum of 3 years ballet training (1 year of pointe). The dancer should currently be taking 2 ballet classes per week before his/her audition.
Age 12 and up with a minimum of 4 years ballet training (2 years of pointe). The dancer must currently be taking 3 ballet classes per week before his/her audition.
Age 13 and up with a minimum of 5 years ballet training (4 years of pointe). The dancer must currently be taking 3-4 ballet classes per week before his/her audition.
